Hitema SBS160

Description

Two things I found while pulling this record.

The URL says “used” but the unit is new. The slug is /product/hitema-sbs160-used-chiller-for-sale/ and your own copy says it is in original manufacturer’s packaging. Leave the URL alone, since changing it costs you the existing rankings, but do not let the copy claim it is used.

The sister unit has its temperatures reversed. CC24/241 reads “Outlet/Inlet Temp: 15°C/20°C”, which is correct for a chiller. CC25/1245 reads “12°C/7°C”, which would mean the water leaves warmer than it enters. It should read 7°C/12°C. The Aermec and Airedale records both have the order right.

New Hitema SBS160 Aqua Pro Plus 801 Chiller, 203 kW, 2023, R454B

This Hitema SBS160 is a new, unused air-cooled process chiller, badged as an Aqua Pro Plus 801 and still in its original manufacturer’s packaging. Built in 2023. Stock number CC24/241.

Two Danfoss scroll compressors run on a single refrigerant circuit using R454B. The evaporator is a plate heat exchanger. Condenser coils are copper tube with aluminium fins.

Rated at 203.43 kW with water entering at 20°C and leaving at 15°C, which is around 58 tons of refrigeration at that duty.

New stock at used prices

This is the difference between this unit and most of our stock. It has never run. There are no hours on the compressors, no wear on the bearings, and no service history to check, because there is no service history.

What you avoid is the manufacturer lead time. New chillers of this size are quoted in months. This one ships now.

R454B refrigerant

R454B has a GWP of 466. R410A, the refrigerant it replaces, sits at 2088. That is roughly a fifth of the carbon burden for the same duty.

It also matters for compliance. A lower GWP means a lower CO2 equivalent charge, which can place a unit in a less demanding F-Gas leak check band and reduces your exposure as the quota tightens and R410A prices climb.

R454B is an A2L, classified as mildly flammable. That affects siting, ventilation and the standards your installer works to. Talk to us about your location before you order and we will confirm what applies.

Operating range

The chiller runs down to minus 10°C, so it covers low temperature process duty with glycol as well as standard cooling.

Quoted duty depends heavily on your water temperatures. At 20°C in and 15°C out this unit gives 203.43 kW. The same model at 12°C in and 7°C out gives around 160 kW. Tell us your actual conditions and we will confirm the figure for your application rather than a headline number.

Twin pumps fitted

The unit carries a twin circulating pump set on board. Two pumps give duty and standby operation, so a pump failure does not stop production.

This is a single refrigerant circuit machine, so there is no partial redundancy on the cooling side. If continuous operation matters more than capital cost, ask us about twin circuit alternatives in stock.
