This 2019 Sabroe ChillPAC is an industrial ammonia chiller in unused condition, with factory run-test hours only. It has a rated capacity of 702kW at glycol temperatures of -2°C inlet and -8°C outlet. This is one of two units in stock, originally specified for an ice rink application.

Compressor and drive

The unit runs a Sabroe SMC116L compressor on a direct drive, paired with a 250kW electro motor operating through a Danfoss VLT frequency drive. The variable-speed drive gives close control of capacity and cuts running costs at part load.

Low refrigerant charge

The ChillPAC uses an ultra-compact format. The design holds a very low ammonia charge, roughly 50% less refrigerant than a conventional chiller of similar duty. The compact build is so narrow it passes through a standard doorway, which makes installation in tight plant rooms far easier.

Ammonia is a natural refrigerant with zero ozone depletion potential and negligible global warming potential, so this unit suits operators moving away from synthetic refrigerants.

Controls

The chiller uses a skid-mounted control panel and includes a UniSab III controller. The skid build cuts installation work on site.
